Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
